NFL:

-The Eagles released star receiver DeSean Jackson this afternoon

-5 teams are believed to be in pursuit of Jackson (Chiefs, Raiders, Patriots, 49ers, Jets)

-Maurice Jones-Drew signed with the Raiders for 3 years

-Raiders DT Pat Sims and Patriots C Ryan Wendell resigned with their teams

-Steelers strike a two year deal with LeGarrette Blount

-Mark Sanchez officially joined the Eagles today. He will be paid $4 million this year to be the backup to Nick Foles who will earn $615,000

MLB:

-Angels OF Mike Trout signed a 6 year, $144 million extension

-The MLB announced new and harsher penalties for failed PED tests. 80 game suspension for first offense (up from 50 games) and 162 game suspension for second offense (up from 100 games)

-Grady Sizemore, who has not played a full season since 2008 and even a major league game since 2011, will be the opening day CF for the Red Sox. Jackie Bradley Jr is sent down to the minors

NBA:

-With their win over the Celtics, the Toronto Raptors officially clinched a playoff spot

-Dwyane Wade, Ray Allen, Mario Chalmers, and Greg Oden all were out for the Heat on Friday, They still beat the Pistons by 32

-Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg has been mentioned in league circles as a possible candidate for the Minnesota Timberwolves job

-Rockets’ PG Patrick Beverly has a torn meniscus and his playoff status is in major jeopardy

March Madness:

-Despite a valiant comeback attempt from Tennessee, Michigan holds on and advances to the Elite Eight

-Behind 27 points from DeAndre Daniels, the Uconn Huskies out-worked Iowa State for their own Elite Eight berth

-Michigan State holds on at the end for an intense win over the Virginia Cavaliers

-Louisville broke the hearts of many across the country when they lost a hard-fought game to the Kentucky Wildcats. Big Blue Nation is still dancing
