Instant Impressions: East Region

1. Virginia vs. 16 CCAR

-Virginia does in fact get the coveted one seed after a clutch win vs. Duke earlier today. Cliff Ellis (coach of Coastal Carolina) has made the NCAA tournament for the 4th time in his career. Too bad he wont last long.

2. Villanova vs. 15 Milwaukee

-Nova just had a crushing loss to Seton Hall in their conference tournament but Milwaukee doesn’t scare anyone.

3. Iowa State vs. NCCU

-The Cyclones of Iowa State may not be well known now, but they score 82.9 points per game (6th in the nation) and lead the entire country with 18.5 assists per game as well. Watch out for them when we get deeper into the tourney.

4. Michigan State vs. 13. Delaware

-Delaware is an intriguing upset pick, but MSU is just too talented. The Spartans beat the Wolverines (2 seed) earlier today and when MSU is fully healthy, they are 14-3 this season.

5. Cincinnati vs. 12. Harvard

-Sean Kilpatrick has a chance to put on a show this tournament, but Harvard wont be an easy out. In fact, I’m picking an upset here. Tommy Amaker’s squad has the experience, talent, and resumé to knock off the Bearcats.

6. North Carolina vs. 11. Providence

-Providence looked great beating Creighton last night, but UNC has Marcus Paige who can take over a game at a moments notice

7. Connecticut vs. 10. St. Joseph’s

-Shabazz Napier is one of our Players to Watch for the tournament but St. Joseph’s has the makings of a Cinderella.

8. Memphis vs. 9. George Washington

-Memphis has quality wins over Louisville, Gonzaga, and SMU this year. George Washington hasn’t beaten a ranked opponent.
