The Hail Mary, Week 9

The Hail Mary is a weekly article that will try to find you the best deep sleepers for that particular week. Use these guys if you’re desperate and need a “Hail Mary” for the week to win your league.

1. Nate Washington, WR, Titans – Nobody is happier that Jake Locker is healthy than Washington. In the 2 games before Locker got hurt, (including the one where he actually went down) Washington averaged over 100 yards and a touchdown in each. Now with Locker back, I expect Nate to put up big numbers again, especially against a defense that just let Golden Tate run (and taunt) all over them.

2. Pierre Thomas, RB, Saints – Don’t get me wrong, I don’t pretend like I trust the Saints’ backfield whatsoever. But in this case, I think I have somewhat figured it out. Thomas has double digit carries in 4 of his past 5 games and has clearly taken over the leading rusher role. If you are thin at running back and need a little bit of help, you could do a lot worse than this guy.

Yes, running back has gotten this thin

3. Marlon Brown, WR, Ravens – The first ever repeat appearance on the “Hail Mary” list. Last time I wrote about Brown on here he scored 10 fantasy points against the same team he’s playing this week, no less. Torrey Smith should be blanketed by Joe Haden all day which means Joe Flacco will have to look elsewhere with the ball. Where is elsewhere? Brown is elsewhere.
