Wrapping up: Morning games
Buccaneers at Patriots: As long as the Patriots have Tom Brady, their passing game, and team, will be quite alright. Kenbrell Thompkins caught both of Brady’s touchdowns and Aaron Dobson looked really good too as the Patriots rolled to an easy win. For the Bucs, Vincent Jackson injured himself on the first play of the second half and never returned; tough blow.
Rams at Cowboys: Tony Romo and Demarco Murray just rolled over the Rams today, proving their superiority in just about every facet of the game. Romo threw for 210 yards and 3 touchdowns to 3 different receivers. Demarco Murray also had a surprisingly good game against a supposedly stout Rams run defense. For St. Louis, Sam Bradford the the ball nearly 50 times but amassed just 240 yards and 1 touchdown. Running back Isiah Pead disappointed with 6 carries for a putrid 20 yards.
Cardinals at Saints: The new Saints defense under Rob Ryan is officially legit. They held Carson Palmer to 184 yards, 0 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions while their run defense was great too. On offense, New Orleans attacked all game long with Jimmy Graham snagging 2 touchdowns and old friend Robert Meachem caught another.
Browns at Vikings: Wow, so much to say here. Congrats to the Browns for winning this game when almost no one gave them a chance. Even though he threw 3 picks, Brian Hoyer showed a great deal of poise by adding 321 yards and 3 touchdowns. Josh Gordon had a huge game in his first week back from a 2 game suspension and Jordan Cameron was once again fantasy gold with 3 touchdowns on the day.
Lions at Redskins: The usual suspects, Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson, both had big games. And with Reggie Bush out, Joique Bell carried the load in the Lions backfield and got your fantasy team 18 points. Nothing spectacular to report from the Redskins side of things. RGIII did not throw a touchdown and Alfred Morris ran for 73 yards and a score.
Packers at Bengals: This game was back and forth all morning long but the Bengals pulled it out in the end. Giovani Bernard had a solid 15 point fantasy day and A.J. Green had just 10 points. Remember James Starks’ amazing performance last week? And remember how I said to be careful with him because I didn’t think it would continue? Well today Jonathan Franklin was the lead back and had over 100 yards rushing and a touchdown.
Chargers at Titans: Philip Rivers was efficient for the Chargers, throwing for 184 yards on 20/24 passes without an interception, but he did not make enough plays to win. Jake Locker showed a tremendous amount of confidence and led his team to a game-winning drive that left just 15 seconds on the clock. Rookie WR Justin Hunter caught his first NFL touchdown for Tennessee. Chris Johnson also had a solid 90 yard game.
Texans at Ravens: Once again we learn that Baltimore is a really hard place to play. The Ravens rolled over the Texans without much offense to speak of all game. Bernard Pierce added 12 fantasy points but besides that, all was quiet on that front. DeAndre Hopkins had 60 yards receiving, almost twice as many as the next closest player on the team. The running game for the Texans struggled to get anything going as well.
Giants at Panthers: This game was one of the most surprising of the day as Carolina ran all over New York to a score of 38-0. As you can see by the picture below, there is no Giants logo there, just a Panthers one. Cam Newton had a huge day through the air and on the ground while DeAngelo Williams finally broke out for 120 yards as well.
