Waiver-Wire Pickups for Week 2

1. Joique Bell, RB, Lions – Bell is the perfect complement to Reggie Bush, and is available to be picked up in many leagues. He is a much bigger back (17 pounds heavier than Bush) and because of this, he should handle most of the goal-line duties all season. Now, don’t expect 2 touchdowns out of Bell every week, but the occasional score will provide immense fantasy value when you least expect it. I HIGHLY recommend that owners of Reggie Bush pick up Bell as a handcuff option, especially with Reggie’s injury history.

2. Julian Edelman, WR, Patriots – The Patriots squeaked out a win this Sunday against the Bills and Edelman was a big reason why (79 yards and 2 touchdowns). The rookie receivers had a very poor outing for New England. Kenbrell Thompkins was targeted 14 times but only caught 4 passes, Josh Boyce was targeted twice and caught none, and the only pass thrown to TE Zach Sudfeld was intercepted. This leaves Edelman and Danny Amendola as the 2 receivers that Tom Brady can trust, and expect that to continue for a few games, especially on a short week against the Jets.

3. Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Steelers – LaRod Stevens-Howling is out for the season, Isaac Redman fumbled twice on Sunday, and LeVeon Bell is out for another few weeks. This gives recently signed Dwyer a chance to provide some fantasy value for a team in a deeper league. Once Bell comes back healthy, Dwyer becomes irrelevant in fantasy once again, but until then, he could be a sneaky good pickup.
