First half updates: Monday Night Football (Game #2)

-The Texans running back situation is a tough one to handle for fantasy owners, as Arian Foster has gotten more carries, but Ben Tate has been more productive. Foster: 9 carries for 29 yards. Tate: 6 carries for 39 yards. Definitely a situation to watch in the second half.

Matt Schaub had a typical Matt Schaub half of football. 12/18 for 147 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Although he did have a 67 yard touchdown pass to Andre Johnson called back when the star was ruled down by contact after only 27 yards.

Ryan Matthews seems to be headed for another season of irrelevance as he averaged just 3.3 yards per carry in the first half. To be fair, he did make a nice touchdown reception to provide some fantasy value.

Philip Rivers is clearly on top of his game, and his stats completely show that. He is 8/14 passing for 112 yards and 3 touchdowns. This picture shows the thought process of Rivers on a key playing during a 2 minute drill at the end of the half. As you can see by the red x’s, all of his short receivers are covered. He has a receiver open deep down the field (yellow circle) but that is a tough (and risky) throw for any QB to make. Instead, Rivers tucks the ball and takes off for an 18 yard scramble (blue line) and gets out of bounds to stop the clock and preserve time for the rest of the drive. An all around great half for the Chargers quarterback.
