Wrapping up: Morning games

Patriots vs. Bills – Rookie QB E.J. Manuel looked impressive while consensus first round pick C.J. Spiller had only 41 rushing yards and took a back seat to Fred Jackson in the second half. From the Patriots perspective, Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola received the bulk of the targets, with Edelman finding the end zone twice. Shane Vereen had a heavy workload and gained 159 total yards.

Bengals vs. Bears – The star wideouts on each team had monster games. A.J Green had 162 yards and 2 scores while Brandon Marshall had 104 yards in the air and reached the end zone once. Neither Bengals running back asserted himself although BenJarvus Green Ellis scored a goal-line touchdown. Matt Forte averaged 2.6 yards per carry on 19 tries.

Dolphins vs. Browns – New signing Mike Wallace was nowhere to be found with only 1 catch for 15 yards. My brilliant idea of Lamar Miller breaking out this week went about as wrong as it could… he had 10 carries for a whopping 3 yards. To be fair, the Browns have a stout run defense and Miami only had 20 rushing yards total. Jordan Cameron, TE for Cleveland, had 108 yards and a touchdown.

Vikings vs. Lions – Adrian Peterson had 93 yards and 2 touchdowns. But after his 78 yard TD run, he had 17 carries for just 15 yards. Meanwhile for Detroit, Reggie Bush had 90 yards rushing, over 100 yards receiving, and a touchdown catch. Calvin Johnson got robbed by the officials on a touchdown catch, continuing his unlucky streak from 2012.

Raiders vs. Colts – No huge fantasy performer in this game. Darren Mcfadden reached the end zone twice and Reggie Wayne had a very solid game, but other than that there is not much else worth noting.

Falcons vs. Saints – Roddy White played hurt and had only 19 receiving yards. Julio Jones fared a bit better, gaining 76 yards and a touchdown in a losing effort from Atlanta. Marques Colston and Jimmy Graham each reached pay-dirt for New Orleans, but Darren Sproles was the leading receiver with 88 yards.

Buccaneers vs. Jets – Doug Martin had 62 yards and found the end zone while Vincent Jackson ran free in the New York secondary for 154 yards. The question of Bilal Powell or Chris Ivory for the Jets running back situation? How about neither: they combined for 44 rushing yards.

Titans vs. Steelers – Pittsburgh had no offense to speak of whatsoever, gaining only 32 yards on the ground. Isaac Redman fumbled twice. To add insult to injury, Pro-Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey tore his ACL and will be done for the year. For the Titans, Chris Johnson had 70 rushing yards but needed 25 carries to get there.

Seahawks vs. Panthers – Russell Wilson looked very good as usual, throwing for 320 yards and a clutch touchdown pass that ended up being the game winner. For Carolina, Cam Newton struggled to get much going due to Seattle’s stifling D.

Chiefs vs. Jaguars – Alex Smith threw for 173 yards and 2 touchdowns in his first game as a Chief. Jamaal Charles had an injury scare but later returned to action before exiting once the game was already in hand. The Jaguars offense failed to generate a single point… that’s all you need to know.
