Waiver Wire pickups – Week 12
1. Ronnie Hillman – The Broncos rookie 3rd round pick hasn’t seen the field much because of Willis Mcgahee, but with Mcgahee recently placed on injured reserve, Hillman gets thrust into the starting lineup this week. And what better team to face than the 1-9 Cheifs? This game will not be close which means Hillman will get plenty of touches to prove he is a capable starting running back. This is not a one week option either, Hillman should be the starter for the rest of the year.
2. Chad Henne – Now that Blaine Gabbert was placed on injured reserve, Henne takes the reins for the 1-9 Jaguars. If you are in need of a spot starter because your quarterback is injured or underperforming, then Henne is a great pickup. He performed like a pro bowler last week, throwing for 354 yards, 4 touchdowns, and no interceptions. Now, don’t expect that to happen every week, but I do believe Henne can exceed expectations and play like a capable fantasy starter.
3. Colin Kaepernick – The 49ers have announced that Kaepernick will be the starter this week against the Saints. He goes from playing one of the best defenses in the league against Chicago, to playing the worst against New Orleans. He played exceptional against the Bears and while I think the 49ers made the wrong move starting Kaepernick, he should provide great fantasy value. He is a threat to run the ball as well as throw it, which makes him hard to defend against. Colin is definitely worth a pickup if nothing more than a backup quarterback.
